PortiaBeta
One Agent, everywhere
Connect your computers once with a QR code and Portia will work on them from anywhere. You set the permissions, the MCPs and the skills.
Version Mac 1.1.0 · Windows 1.0.0 · Linux 1.0.0
Agent
A portable agent
Download Portia from the App Store and set up the agent in just three steps.
Enter your provider’s key
Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible API, Ollama included. The key stays in the iPhone’s keychain.
Connect your MCPs and Skills
Add remote MCP servers with their token and import skills in SKILL.md format, from a URL or pasted.
Scan the QR code
Download and install the Portia launcher on every computer you want to control.
Permissions
Set the permissions for the task on each computer
Three modes, for each computer and for each of its tools.
Reads
It only reads: anything that writes or runs is refused without asking.
Asks
Every write or command waits for your approval in the conversation.
Acts
It works on its own and asks for Face ID before what cannot be undone, such as deleting files or rm -rf.
End-to-end encryption
The iPhone and the computers communicate through a relay that only sees encrypted messages (Noise IK). Each computer keeps an audit log of every call, and the launcher stops everything with one click.
Launcher
The launcher
Set up the launcher so it is always available in the menu bar or the system tray and opens automatically when the computer restarts.
Pairing
The QR code is single-use and valid for five minutes. Revoke an iPhone from the computer, or the computer from the iPhone.
What Portia can do remotely
Run commands in the terminal, read and write files, take screenshots, open apps and links, and get system information.
Frequently asked questions
Does Portia include an AI subscription?
No. It uses your own API key with the provider you choose, and the requests go from the iPhone to that provider under your account. Portia does not resell any AI service.
Can the agent change anything without my approval?
Only what you allow. In Reads it changes nothing; in Asks every write or command waits for you; in Acts it asks for Face ID before destructive actions, such as deleting files or commands like rm -rf or sudo.
What does the relay see?
The public identity of each device and encrypted messages it cannot read. If a device is offline, it keeps them for ten minutes at most.
Do the iPhone and the computer need to be on the same network?
No. Both connect to the relay over the internet, wherever they are.
Which computers does it work with?
Macs with macOS 15 or later, Windows 10 or later and Linux (64-bit), through the launcher.
